Session 2: How the Brain Works

Return to 'Enhancing Knowledge & Awareness: Special Knowledge' Page

Our present thoughts, behaviors, and actions are heavily influenced by what has happened to us in the past. This module will create a working understanding of how the brain and body coordinate in service of individuals and group survival. While efficient and logical, the way our brains work also opens us up to quick, automatic decision-making that can jeopardize social health in complex environments. Furthermore, this session will explore key physiological and psychological processes involved with our response to perceived threats and how this may affect information processing and social interaction.
